There's a floor lamp balanced on the wrong side of the room because the sofa has no table next to it. Or a reading lamp sitting on the coffee table, which means it's too far away to be useful and the coffee table now has one fewer usable surface. A lamp table solves that. It's a small piece with a specific job: it puts the light in the right place and gives you a surface at arm's reach for a drink, a book, or the remote control. Not glamorous, but genuinely useful.
Lamp tables here come in two material families: marble and mirrored. Both suit a living room scheme comfortably, and both work as companion pieces to a coffee table or console table in the same material. The scale is smaller than a coffee table, and the purpose is more focused, but the choice of material still matters for how the piece sits in the room and how much upkeep it asks of you. Finance is available on many of our lamp tables, subject to status.
We deliver nationally across the UK. If you'd like to see lamp tables in person before buying, our Manchester showroom is open for visits. Get in touch at any stage if you'd like a hand choosing.

What's in this collection

The collection divides into two material families.

Marble lamp tables are the most popular option. The stone top brings the same quality and natural variation that marble brings to larger pieces, in a smaller format that works beside a sofa or armchair without demanding much attention. They're practical in everyday use and tend to be the easier of the two to live with in a busy household.

Mirrored lamp tables bring a reflective quality that works particularly well in the evening, when a lit lamp alongside a mirrored surface creates a warm, layered light effect in the room. They suit a more glamorous or maximalist scheme and pair naturally with mirrored coffee tables or mirrored console tables elsewhere in the space.

If you're furnishing a full living room scheme, it's worth thinking about lamp tables alongside coffee tables and console tables. Choosing accent pieces that share a material language, even if they don't match exactly, gives a room a more settled, considered feel than buying each piece in isolation.

Where lamp tables go and what they do

The most common placement is beside a sofa or armchair, at the end of a seating run where a floor lamp or table lamp needs a surface. The lamp table handles the lamp, a drink, and whatever else accumulates in that spot without the coffee table having to do everything.

They also work well in a bedroom, beside the bed, where the scale of a lamp table is often better suited than a full bedside table. The surface is enough for a lamp and a glass of water, and the smaller footprint works well in tighter bedroom layouts.

In a living room with multiple seating positions, two lamp tables at either end of a sofa give the room a balanced, complete look. They don't need to be identical, but keeping the material language consistent makes the pairing read as deliberate rather than accidental.

Choosing the right size

Height is the most important dimension. You want the lamp table surface to sit at roughly the same level as the arm of the sofa or chair it's beside, or just slightly above. Too low and the lamp doesn't cast light where it's needed. Too high and the table starts to look out of proportion with the seating around it.

Surface area is the other consideration. A lamp table needs to accommodate a lamp base comfortably and leave a little space beside it. It doesn't need to be large, but a table that's too small will feel cramped with even a modest lamp on it.

Depth is usually less of a concern than with a console table, but check that the piece doesn't project awkwardly into a walkway if it's going beside the end of a sofa that faces into the room.

Spreading the Cost

Finance is available on many of our lamp tables, subject to status. It's a straightforward option if you're furnishing a room across several pieces and would rather spread the cost than pay for everything upfront.

Details of the available finance options are on the website. If you have any questions before ordering, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

Lamp Table FAQs

What's the difference between a lamp table and a coffee table?

Primarily size and placement. A coffee table sits in the middle of a seating group and serves everyone in the room. It's a central piece of living room furniture that handles drinks, books, remotes, and general daily use across the whole family. A lamp table sits at the side, typically beside a sofa end or an armchair, and serves one person or one position. Its job is narrower: hold a lamp, and have enough surface beside it for the things that accumulate in that particular spot.

The two work well together rather than instead of each other. In most living rooms, a coffee table handles the centre and a lamp table or two at the ends of the seating complete the scheme. Choosing them in a complementary material or finish gives the room a more resolved look than buying them without reference to each other.

Where does a lamp table go in a room?

The most natural placement is at the end of a sofa or beside a freestanding armchair, wherever a floor or table lamp needs a surface. That position puts usable light at the right height for reading or general evening use, and gives you somewhere within arm's reach for a drink or a book without having to lean to the coffee table.

A lamp table also works well in a bedroom beside the bed, particularly in rooms where a full bedside table would feel too large for the space. The surface is enough for a lamp and the essentials, and the smaller footprint can work better in a tighter layout than a more substantial piece would.

What height should a lamp table be?

Roughly in line with the arm of the sofa or chair it's beside, or just slightly above. That height puts the lamp at a useful level for the person sitting there, and keeps the table in proportion with the seating around it. A table significantly lower than the sofa arm tends to look like it belongs in a different room. A table much higher starts to read more like a side table or console than a lamp table.

If you're pairing a lamp table with a specific sofa, measure the arm height before buying and check the lamp table height against it. Most lamp tables are designed with standard sofa arm heights in mind, but it's worth confirming rather than assuming.

Which material is better for a lamp table: marble or mirrored?

It depends on the room and how much maintenance you want to take on. Marble is the more practical day-to-day choice. It handles everyday contact without fuss, doesn't show fingerprints, and asks relatively little of you beyond wiping spills promptly. In a busy living room where the lamp table is going to be used constantly, marble is the easier choice to live with.

Mirrored is more visually interesting, particularly in the evening when a lamp is on. The reflective surface creates a layered, warm light effect that marble doesn't match. The trade-off is that it shows dust and fingerprints clearly and needs more regular wiping. In a calmer room where the lamp table is part of a considered scheme and the household is generally tidy, mirrored is a realistic and rewarding choice.

Can a lamp table work as a bedside table?

Yes, and for many bedrooms it's a good solution. The scale of a lamp table suits a bedside position well, particularly in rooms where a full bedside table would take up more floor space than the room can comfortably give. You get a surface for a lamp, a phone, a glass of water, and the things that typically end up on a bedside table, without the visual or physical bulk of a larger piece.

The main consideration is whether the surface is large enough for how you use the bedside. If you tend to have multiple things on the go, a lamp table may feel cramped. If the bedside routine is minimal, the scale is usually just right.
