There's a floor lamp balanced on the wrong side of the room because the sofa has no table next to it. Or a reading lamp sitting on the coffee table, which means it's too far away to be useful and the coffee table now has one fewer usable surface. A lamp table solves that. It's a small piece with a specific job: it puts the light in the right place and gives you a surface at arm's reach for a drink, a book, or the remote control. Not glamorous, but genuinely useful.
Lamp tables here come in two material families: marble and mirrored. Both suit a living room scheme comfortably, and both work as companion pieces to a coffee table or console table in the same material. The scale is smaller than a coffee table, and the purpose is more focused, but the choice of material still matters for how the piece sits in the room and how much upkeep it asks of you. Finance is available on many of our lamp tables, subject to status.
We deliver nationally across the UK. If you'd like to see lamp tables in person before buying, our Manchester showroom is open for visits. Get in touch at any stage if you'd like a hand choosing.

What's in this collection

The collection divides into two material families.

Marble lamp tables are the most popular option. The stone top brings the same quality and natural variation that marble brings to larger pieces, in a smaller format that works beside a sofa or armchair without demanding much attention. They're practical in everyday use and tend to be the easier of the two to live with in a busy household.

Mirrored lamp tables bring a reflective quality that works particularly well in the evening, when a lit lamp alongside a mirrored surface creates a warm, layered light effect in the room. They suit a more glamorous or maximalist scheme and pair naturally with mirrored coffee tables or mirrored console tables elsewhere in the space.

If you're furnishing a full living room scheme, it's worth thinking about lamp tables alongside coffee tables and console tables. Choosing accent pieces that share a material language, even if they don't match exactly, gives a room a more settled, considered feel than buying each piece in isolation.

Where lamp tables go and what they do

The most common placement is beside a sofa or armchair, at the end of a seating run where a floor lamp or table lamp needs a surface. The lamp table handles the lamp, a drink, and whatever else accumulates in that spot without the coffee table having to do everything.

They also work well in a bedroom, beside the bed, where the scale of a lamp table is often better suited than a full bedside table. The surface is enough for a lamp and a glass of water, and the smaller footprint works well in tighter bedroom layouts.

In a living room with multiple seating positions, two lamp tables at either end of a sofa give the room a balanced, complete look. They don't need to be identical, but keeping the material language consistent makes the pairing read as deliberate rather than accidental.

Choosing the right size

Height is the most important dimension. You want the lamp table surface to sit at roughly the same level as the arm of the sofa or chair it's beside, or just slightly above. Too low and the lamp doesn't cast light where it's needed. Too high and the table starts to look out of proportion with the seating around it.

Surface area is the other consideration. A lamp table needs to accommodate a lamp base comfortably and leave a little space beside it. It doesn't need to be large, but a table that's too small will feel cramped with even a modest lamp on it.

Depth is usually less of a concern than with a console table, but check that the piece doesn't project awkwardly into a walkway if it's going beside the end of a sofa that faces into the room.

Spreading the Cost

Finance is available on many of our lamp tables, subject to status. It's a straightforward option if you're furnishing a room across several pieces and would rather spread the cost than pay for everything upfront.

Details of the available finance options are on the website. If you have any questions before ordering, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

Why buy from Shawcross

We're a Manchester-based furniture retailer with a physical showroom where you can see lamp tables in person before buying. For a piece where scale and proportion relative to your sofa or chair matter as much as the material, it's often useful to see the piece alongside other furniture before you commit.

We deliver nationally across the UK. Our team is happy to help at any stage, whether you need help matching a lamp table to other pieces you're already buying, or want a second opinion on sizing before you order.
