What's in this collection
The Ariana dining table is a clean-lined contemporary dining table available in a range of sizes. The design is defined by what it doesn't do as much as what it does: no ornate detailing, no heavily decorative base, no finish that makes a point of announcing itself. The result is a table that is straightforward to place in a room because it doesn't create a conflict with anything around it, while still having enough considered quality to look like a deliberate choice rather than a default.
The table surface and base finish vary across the configurations available, and the combination of top material and leg or frame design affects the overall character of the piece. Some configurations sit at the lighter and more minimal end of the contemporary range; others have a slightly more substantial presence while maintaining the same clean aesthetic. Seeing the specific configuration you're considering in person is the most reliable way to understand which end of that range it sits at, and it is something the Manchester showroom makes straightforward.
The Ariana dining table in your room
The Ariana is at home in contemporary and modern interiors: a recently refitted kitchen-diner, a newer build furnished throughout with clean and considered pieces, or any room where the brief has been light and unfussy rather than warm and traditional. The table earns its place in those rooms because the design language is consistent with everything around it rather than working against it.
It performs particularly well in open-plan spaces, where a dining table needs to sit within a larger room rather than occupy a defined space with four walls. In an open-plan kitchen-diner, a table with a lot of visual weight or decorative detail can make the dining zone feel cluttered. The Ariana keeps the space feeling considered and open, which is part of what makes it such a natural fit for that kind of layout.
As a standalone piece paired with independently chosen chairs, the Ariana gives you more flexibility than a matched set does. The clean design of the table is not opinionated about the chair that sits alongside it: a contemporary upholstered chair in a plain fabric works naturally, a more considered chair in a textured or richer fabric can add depth to the combination without creating a conflict, and a chair with some detail can work well if the room supports it. The table doesn't demand a specific chair aesthetic in the way that a more ornate piece might, which gives you genuine room to choose the chairs that suit the household and the room rather than the chairs that the table dictates.
The rooms where the Ariana is a harder fit are those with strong traditional or period character: heavy architectural detail, classical furniture elsewhere, or a warm and richly layered interior where a clean contemporary table tends to feel inconsistent with the surroundings. In those rooms our Louis dining tables or Denver dining tables are worth looking at alongside the Ariana before you decide, as both bring more presence and warmth to a traditional or transitional context.
Sizes in the Ariana dining table
The Ariana dining table is available in sizes suited to different households and dining rooms. A 1.5m dining table suits the majority of standard family dining rooms and kitchen-diners, seating four comfortably for everyday meals and six when guests come round. A 1.6m dining table gives six people proper elbow room and suits a room with a little more length to work with, and for a household that regularly eats as six rather than occasionally, the step up is worth taking if the room allows it.
As with any dining table, allow around 90cm of clearance between the edge of the table and the nearest wall or obstacle on all four sides when planning against your room dimensions. In an open-plan kitchen-diner where the dining area is defined by the furniture rather than by four walls, it's worth thinking about the clearance in relation to the kitchen island, the living area, and any other furniture as well as the fixed walls. If you'd like to check a specific size against your room before ordering, get in touch and we'll work through the measurements with you.
Spreading the Cost
Finance is available on many of our dining tables, subject to status. If the table you want sits above your immediate budget, spreading the cost is worth exploring. We're happy to talk through the options at any point.
Why buy from Shawcross
We're based in Manchester and our showroom is open if you'd like to see the Ariana dining table in person before buying. Contemporary furniture can be harder to judge from product photography than more ornate designs, because the quality of a clean-lined table lives in the finish, the proportions, and the surface rather than in visible decorative detail. Seeing the Ariana in real light, assessing how the surface reads alongside the base, and checking the proportions in a real space are all things that a visit settles quickly and confidently.
We deliver nationally across the UK, and you can contact us at any stage for guidance on sizing, room fit, chair compatibility, or any other question before you order.
