There is nothing quite like coming home, kicking off your shoes and sinking into a sofa that feels made for you. The right sofa turns a living room into somewhere you want to curl up, stretch out and stay a bit longer, whether it is just you and a cuppa or the whole family piled in.

At Shawcross, we choose sofas with those everyday moments in mind. You will find neat 2 seaters for snug terraces, generous family designs for open-plan spaces and plenty in between. Some are upright and tailored, others are deep and lounging, but all are built on sturdy frames with supportive interiors so they feel as good to sit on as they look. Fabrics range from easy-going weaves to leather and cosy velvet, so you can match the feel to your space and how you live.

Whether you are updating a single room or starting from scratch, this is the place to get a feel for what Shawcross does best. You will find clear pricing and a wide choice of fabrics and shapes, making it easy to home in on the sofas that make sense for your life. Browse the collection at your own pace, and get in touch any time if you would like a second opinion on what will work best.

Why choose Shawcross for your sofa

A sofa is one of the hardest-working pieces in any home, so it needs more than just a nice photograph. At Shawcross, we focus on sofas that feel good to live with every day, not just for the first few weeks. Frames are chosen for strength, cushions for comfort that lasts, and fabrics for the way they look and behave in real rooms, not show homes.

Within the range you will find everything from neat 2 seater sofas for smaller spaces to generous 3 and 4 seaters that anchor a family living room. If you need to maximise seating, our corner sofas and chaise end sofas help you make the most of every inch, while our sofa beds give you a comfortable place for guests without needing a separate spare room. You can then decide whether fabric sofas, leather sofas or velvet sofas best suit how you like to relax and how much maintenance you are happy to take on.

Making your budget work harder

We know a new sofa is a considered purchase, so we work to offer solid value at every price point. At the simpler end of the range you will find straightforward, well-made sofas that cover the basics with clean lines and practical fabrics. Higher up the range, you will see plusher velvet sofas, premium leather sofas or larger corner designs, where the extra spend goes into more generous proportions, richer finishes and added features.

Pricing is kept clear on each product page, so you can quickly see what sits within your budget and compare similar options side by side. Where promotions are available, they are clearly shown so you can see exactly what you are saving. On many sofas you will also see the option to spread the cost with finance, subject to status, which can be useful if you are furnishing a full room at once and want to keep monthly outgoings manageable.

Support before and after you buy

Choosing a sofa can feel like a big decision, and you do not have to make it alone. If you are unsure about sizes, layouts or fabrics, we are happy to talk things through and help you narrow down a shortlist. We can help you check measurements, think about how the sofa will sit with what you already own, and consider how it will cope with everyday life, from pets and children to regular guests. If you prefer to try things in person, you can visit our showroom to sit on different styles and see the fabrics up close.

Once your sofa is delivered, we are still here if you need us. If you have questions about care, cushion settling, or anything that does not feel quite right, you can call us on 0161 222 0360 or email shawcrossfurniture@gmail.com and we will do our best to help. The aim is to make sure the sofa you choose feels right for your home not just on the day it arrives, but for years afterwards.

Sofa FAQs

How do I choose the right size sofa for my room?

Getting the size right starts with your room, not the product photo. Measure the length and width, mark where doors, radiators and fireplaces sit, then use masking tape on the floor to outline the sofa so you can walk around it. Aim to keep around 60–80 cm of clear walkway.

In smaller rooms a 2 seater usually works best, while 3 and 4 seaters or corner sofas suit family spaces and open-plan layouts. If you email us your room dimensions, we can help you narrow down the options. Read more in our sofa measuring and fit guide.

Can I see your sofas in person before I order?

You can visit our showroom in Manchester to sit on a range of sofas, compare seat depths and back heights, and see colours in natural light. It is often the quickest way to decide whether you prefer a firmer sit or a deeper, lounging style.

If there is a particular sofa you are interested in, you can call 0161 222 0360 or email shawcrossfurniture@gmail.com and we will let you know if it is currently on display, or show you similar alternatives.

How long will delivery take on a new sofa from Shawcross?

Delivery depends on whether your chosen sofa is in stock or ordered in. Some styles can be delivered relatively quickly, while others have a longer lead time because they are brought in specially. The latest estimate is always shown on each product page and is the best guide when you are planning.

If you are working to a specific date, get in touch and we can explain which ranges are most likely to arrive in time and talk through your options. For a fuller overview, see our sofa delivery and access guide.

What if my home has tight doorways or stairs – will the sofa fit?

Many UK homes have narrow halls and steep stairs, so it is important to measure before you order. Check the width of your doors, hallways and staircases and compare them with the packaged dimensions listed on the product page, allowing room for banisters, radiators and low ceilings on corners.

Some sofas have removable feet or backs, or come in sections, which can make tight access easier. If you are unsure, send us your measurements and photos and we can help you work out what is realistic. You can also follow our step-by-step sofa measuring and access guide.

Do you offer finance on sofas?

On many of our sofas you will see the option to spread the cost with finance, which can be helpful if you are furnishing a full room at once. Any available plans are shown clearly at checkout or on our finance information pages, including the provider, term and representative cost.

Finance is always subject to status and checks by the provider, and it is important that you are comfortable with the monthly payments before you go ahead. If you are unsure how it works alongside a particular sofa, our team can talk you through the basics before you commit.

What kind of quality can I expect from a Shawcross sofa?

We select sofas for everyday use, not just occasional sitting. That means sturdy frames, reliable support under the cushions and fabrics chosen for both feel and practicality. At the simpler end of the range you will find clean, well-made designs in easy-going fabrics; higher up, you will see deeper cushions, premium leathers and velvets and more generous proportions.

If quality is your main priority, we can point you towards ranges with heavier frames, denser fillings and more hard-wearing covers so you know where your money is going.

Do your sofas arrive assembled, or will I need to put them together?

Most sofas arrive with the main body already assembled, and you may only need to attach the feet or connect sections on corner designs. Any assembly that is required is designed to be straightforward and is explained in the instructions supplied with your sofa.

Product pages will usually tell you what to expect on delivery day. If you are worried about managing larger pieces, let us know before you order and we can advise which designs are easier to manoeuvre and set up. For more detail, you can read our sofa delivery and assembly guide.
